The homeless population in the U.S. is going to grow due to the Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing Program ending in the fall, and the fact that many Americans are "doubling up" and living with family and friends. The program mentioned has helped more than one million people find housing. Due to depletion of resources, the program can no longer sustain past the fall. This is said to increase the number of homeless in the U.S. by 5% in three years. Research also shows that by "doubling up" and living with friends, the chances of becoming homeless are increased. "Doubling up" is considered the last step before becoming homeless.
The points made in this article depict a major issue in America. All of the research shows that the U.S. is going to have many more homeless families within the next few years. I think this article could include a little more research on what the government is doing to try and stop this from happening. The article about the homeless woman getting back on her feet, however, did depict a good example of how the old program has worked, and has made a difference. Homelessness is a problem in the United States, and more needs to be done to address this issue before it gets even more out of hand.
